You can use a sequentially coupled multiphysics analysis when the coupling between
one or more of the physical fields in a model is important only in one direction.
A common case is a sequential thermal-stress analysis, where volumetric strain arises in a
stress analysis if thermal expansion is included, but the deformations computed in the stress
analysis do not significantly alter the thermal response. In such cases, the external fields
that are imported typically vary with position and may be time dependent. The fields are
predefined because they are not changed by the current analysis.
When the coupling is strong, the fields of both models influence each other, and you should
consider fully coupled procedures in Abaqus or the co-simulation solution technique to accurately solve your multiphysics problem.
