About Components

Components are the building blocks of models, and you use them to create a simulation process flow. You can store components in the component palette for easy access.

You can select and add components to the simulation process flow from the component palette as described in Adding Components to the Simulation Process Flow.

In addition to the components provided in Isight, you can create your own custom components. These components are stored in the library, and you can add them to the palette. For more information, see Adding Components to the Component Palette. For information about developing your own components, see Component Development in the Isight Development Guide.

You must configure each of the components included in the model. The process of editing and configuring components can be divided into three distinct steps. Depending on the model, you may not need to complete each step.

Define parameter information for the component as described in Defining and Mapping Parameters and File Parameters.

Configure the component for how you want to use it in the model using its individual editor (see Opening the Component Editors).

For detailed information about the technique and execution options available for each individual component, see the Isight Component Guide.

Set the general properties relating to the description and execution of the component using the general property editor (see Opening the Component Properties Editor).

For detailed information about the properties available for each individual component, see the Isight Component Guide.
