Required parameters

DENSITY

This parameter applies only to DEM analyses.

Set this parameter equal to a numerical value or to the name of a distribution (see Distribution Definition) to be used with these elements.

ELSET

Set this parameter equal to the name of the element set containing the elements for which the section is being defined.

FLUID BEHAVIOR

This parameter applies only to LKM analyses.

Set this parameter equal to the name of the fluid behavior of the gas associated with the lumped gas particles.

SHAPE

This parameter is used to specify the shape of the discrete element.

Set this parameter equal to SPHERE (default).

Optional parameters

ALPHA

Set this parameter equal to the value of the mass proportional damping factor for discrete elements. The default value is 0.0.

CONTROLS

Set this parameter equal to the name of a section controls definition (see Section Controls) to be used to specify the size of the particle tracking box.

Data line for discrete elements

First (and only) data line

  1. Enter the name of the distribution table or the probability density function for the radius of the discrete elements or the value of the radius. Leave blank when the FLUID BEHAVIOR parameter is included.
