*CONTACT MASS SCALING

Context:

A contact mss scaling definition can apply mass scaling to the contact surfaces/elements involved in the contact definition in Abaqus/Explicit only.

  1. From the main menu bar, select Interaction Create .

Tip: You can also create a general contact interaction using the tool in the Interaction module toolbox.

  2. In the Create Interaction dialog box that appears, do the following:

    • Name the interaction. For more information about naming objects, see Using basic dialog box components.

    • Select the step in which the interaction will be created. contact mass scaling can be created in any explicit step in which the contact is alredy defined.

    • Select the Contact Mass Scaling (Explicit) type of interaction, depending on the analysis steps being defined in your model.

  3. Click Continue to close the Create Interaction dialog box.

The Edit Interaction dialog box appears.

  4. Specify the Location (The Default is Element Mass Scaling)
  5. If the location selected is Specified Surfaces, then select the surfaces to include in contact mass scaling from the list of available sufaces.
    1. Click the arrows in the middle of the dialog box to transfer the surfaces to the list of surfaces that will be included in the contact mass scaling.
  6. Click OK to create the interaction and to close the editor.
