Configuring the Postprocessing Information

You can specify the actions that you want Isight to take after running your set of experiments.

  1. Double-click the DOE component icon .
    The DOE Component Editor appears.
  2. From the DOE Component Editor, click the Postprocessing tab.
  3. Right-click in the table to access various options for working with responses.

For more information, see Setting Table Options.

  4. Determine the output parameters that you want to use as responses by selecting the corresponding check boxes in the first column.

Tip: Alternatively, you can click the button at the bottom of the tab to add all parameters. To clear all the parameters, click the button.

If you select an array as a response, a single quantity represents the array in the model and it will be expanded during execution to define a response for each element in the array. You can override the attributes for each individual element by selecting them separately.

Note: While the number of response quantities specified has no affect on the cost of executing the experiments and only slightly affects the cost of analyzing results, you must be careful to focus on key quantities that directly relate to the performance/quality of the product to specify as responses. This action eases the interpretation of results in making design decisions.

  5. Specify an objective (minimize, maximize, or target) and any appropriate weighting factor in the corresponding columns.

You can use this option to screen for the most influential factors and to estimate an optimal design. It is also used to determine the “best” point of all the designs executed.

  6. If desired, click the button at the bottom of the editor.

For more information, see Editing Attributes for Multiple Parameters.

  7. Set the following post-execution options:
    OptionDescription
Calculate basic statistics This option calculates the minimum, maximum, mean, standard deviation, and range of all the data for each factor or response.
Perform regression analysis This option performs linear regression analysis to determine the main effects of each factor on each response.
Write experiment data to a file This option writes all the DOE run data to the specified file after execution. Click Browse to locate the file. Click the Output file parameter ‘Results.Data Set’ to also provide this data as an output file parameter (called Data Set) in the DOE Results output parameter.

For Adaptive DOE technique only: The experiment data file contains the data in Prior Design Points File (For more information, see Configuring the Adaptive DOE Technique) appended with the current DOE run data.

  8. Click OK to save your changes and to close the DOE Component Editor.
