Overview over Groups

In SIMULIA Tosca Fluid, groups of cells and cell faces are used for different purposes.

A cell group is a named set of distinct cells in the CFD model. A cell face group is a named set of distinct faces of cells in the CFD model, respectively. In SIMULIA Tosca Fluid cells are generally called elements.

Groups are used, for example, to specify which cells in the CFD model are to be used as design variables ("design cells") during the optimization that is which cells might be modified by SIMULIA Tosca Fluid:

In this example, a group named ALL_CELLS has been specified to be used as design variables for the optimization.

Groups in SIMULIA Tosca Fluid are defined in two basic ways:

  1. Automatic group definition by SIMULIA Tosca Fluid
  2. Manual group definition using commands in the parameter file
