From the main menu bar in the Interaction module, select .

In the Create Imperfection dialog box that appears, name
the imperfection, select File Imperfection, and click
Continue.

Select the points for which you want to define a file imperfection using one of
the following methods:

Select the points in the viewport. When you have finished selecting,
click mouse button 2.

To select from a list of existing sets, do the following:

Click Sets on the right side of the
prompt area to display the Region
Selection dialog box containing a list of
available sets.

Select the set of interest, and click
Continue. Note:
The
default selection method is based on the selection
method you most recently employed. To revert to the
other method, click Select in
Viewport or Sets
on the right side of the prompt area.
The Edit Imperfection dialog box appears.

Select Result file, which is an .odb
file that is to be used in the imperfection definition.

Select the Step and Increment of the
results file from which the displacement data are to be read to define the
imperfection.

In the Data table, enter the following:
- Mode Number

Enter the mode number.
- Scaling Factor

Enter the scaling factor. Repeat this row in the table as often
as necessary to specify the imperfection as a linear combination
of mode shapes.

Click OK to save your data and to close the dialog
box.
