Configuring an Output File Set and an Output File Set Source

You can use a set of files as an output file parameter and as the output source.

  1. From the Design Gateway, select a model.
  2. Select the component that will contain the new file set.
  3. From the Design Gateway Files tab, click .

    The File Parameter Wizard appears.

  4. Click Output, and click Next.

    The File Parameter Structure screen appears.

  5. Select File Set.
  6. Click Next.

    The Output Source screen appears.

  7. Specify the source information.

    The data are stored in a regular file on the file system. The Path text box holds the base name of the file, including all directory path information. You can click Browse to navigate to the file set that you want to use. You can use the Options list setting (Absolute path, Runtime directory, Model directory, or Shared file system) to complete the path.

  8. In the Pattern text box, enter the file set filter pattern ("?" or "*"). If you do not specify a filter, "*" is the default.
  9. If desired, use the Sort By list to order the files in the file set by Name or the Date Modified.

    By default, no sorting is selected.

  10. Click Next.

    The File Content Type screen appears.

  11. Select the content of the file set. The files must have the same type of content.

    Text Text files are displayed faster than binary files in the Runtime Gateway and can be converted from a nonstandard character encoding.
    Binary Binary files are always copied unchanged and are displayed in an external Web browser. Whether a binary file can be viewed or not depends on what file formats are recognized by your Web browser.
  12. Click Next.
    The Output Destination screen appears.
  13. Specify the location to which you want the directory copied so that the file set is available after the component’s runtime directory is removed:

    Isight File Manager Select this option to have the Isight file manager store the content of the file set in the Isight runtime database. This option is recommended. The Isight file manager is part of the results database that stores the contents of output file parameters that are marked with a destination of Isight File Manager. File sets are stored in the filemgr subdirectory of the Isight database directory using a path derived from the job and work item IDs. The file sets are deleted when the job that created them is deleted from the database.
    Specify Location Select this option to enter the location where you want the file set to be placed following execution.

    An output file set that is saved in a fixed location is not safe for parallel execution because multiple instances of the component overwrite each other’s data.

    None Select this option to not copy the file set.

    If you do not define a destination for an output file set, the file sets are not copied. Instead, the source directory’s absolute path is stored. This can be more efficient for large output files. To use this configuration with parallel execution, the directory names for the source of the output file set must be unique for every run by substituting a parameter value or the work item ID into the directory path.   14. If you selected Specify Location, do the following:
    1. Click to configure the location.

      The Configure Data Handler dialog box appears.

      The location can be in the Isight runtime environment, a shared file system, or an absolute path.

    2. Click OK to close the Configure Data Handler dialog box.
  15. Click Next.

    The File Set Name screen appears.

  16. In the File Set Name, enter a name or accept the default name.
  17. Click Next.

    The Save to Database screen appears.

  18. Select Save File parameter values to the database at runtime to specify if you want Isight to save the file set attached to components to the database.

  19. Click Finish.

    Isight adds the new file set to the list on the Output Files subtab.
