Configuring the Data File

You can use the Data File tab to select the data file that you want to use.

  1. Double-click the Approximation component icon .
    The Approximation Component Editor appears.
  2. From the Approximation Component Editor, click the Data File tab.
  3. In the Data File Type list, select Sampling Points or Coefficients Data.

    By default, Sampling Points is selected.

    • Sampling Points

      1. Type the name and path of the data file in the corresponding text box, or click Browse and navigate to the file that contains the data for approximation construction (i.e., the file contains parameter names on the first line and data points on each subsequent line).
      2. Determine how you want Isight to handle the file:
        Static fileWhen this option is selected, the data in the file never change. Isight reads the data once and saves it in memory for future use. However, if the contents of the file change, you can instruct Isight to reread the file by clicking Re-read File.
        Dynamic fileWhen this option is selected, the data in the file can change. Isight reads the data before every initialization. This option is available only in Isight standalone. It is not supported in a SIMULIA Execution Engine environment.
        File parameterWhen this option is selected, Isight creates a file parameter in the component, which can be mapped to receive data from another file parameter at the time of execution.

    • Coefficients Data. You can use a previously saved coefficients data file from another approximation with the same number of input and output parameters.

      Type the name and path of the data file in the corresponding text box, or click Browse and navigate to the file that has the coefficients data.

      Note: If you use a coefficients data file, you cannot configure any technique options. In addition, you cannot select or deselect the input and output parameters.

  4. Click OK to save your changes and to close the Approximation Component Editor.
