Products Abaqus/Standard Elements tested
Problem descriptionThese tests are used to verify the cure modeling capabilities in Abaqus/Standard. The tests verify the correctness of the degree of cure, the cure shrinkage strain, and the amount of heat generation computed by the model. The tests verify the cure modeling capabilities for both the implementation using special-purpose built-in material options (see Modeling the Cure Process in Thermosetting Polymers) and the implementation using dedicated cure modeling options and output variables (see Curing Processes in Polymers). All the tests consist of one element. No stresses or thermal loads are applied, and sufficient boundary conditions are prescribed to prevent rigid body motion. In all cases, an initial temperature of 75 is prescribed. To begin the curing process, initial conditions are used to assign small initial values of degree of cure equal to 0.001. Material:The material parameters used are given below.
Results and discussionThe degree of cure results agree well with those obtained using a semianalytical method. The cure shrinkage strain and the volumetric heat generated as the curing reaction progresses agree well with the results obtained analytically.
