The field mapper provides spatial mapping between domains having different mesh
topologies and is used by various capabilities in Abaqus, including co-simulation and importing external fields.
The following field mapper controls are now available:
- You can choose between a subelement or global conservative mapping algorithm
when integrating intensive to extensive fields. The subelement algorithm
provides conservative mapping with a smooth distribution. For the global
conservative algorithm, the results are conservative over the entire region,
and the algorithm is numerically less expensive.
- Optionally, you can specify a constant value to use for missing members
where the search fails. By default, an error is issued. You can view the
missing members in the Visualization module of Abaqus/CAE.
- You can provide distance search tolerances to limit or enlarge the search
vicinity. These distance tolerances are either absolute values or values
relative to a characteristic region dimension.
