Interaction and constraint improvements in Abaqus/CAE

You can now enable exact contact with a beam cross-section in Abaqus/CAE, and you can use the dynamic feature edge criteria for Abaqus/Explicit general contact.

This functionality is first available in the Abaqus 2023 GA release.

In Abaqus/CAE you can now define a structural damping type when defining connector damping behavior in a connector section. You can also now specify a thermal expansion coefficient when defining a kinematic coupling constraint.

This functionality is first available in the Abaqus 2022 FD02 (FP.2214) release.

Products Abaqus/CAE

When you create an Abaqus/Explicit general contact interaction, you can activate contact calculations based on a circumferential approximation or the actual cross section of the beam element.

You can now define a structural damping type for connector damping behavior, in addition to a viscous type.

When you create a kinematic coupling constraint, you can optionally specify a thermal expansion coefficient.
