Configuring the Pointer-2 Execution Options

You can control the general and parameter termination criteria. If you select more than one criterion, optimization terminates whenever any of the criteria are met.

  1. Double-click the Exploration icon .
    The Exploration Component Editor appears.
  2. From the Exploration Component Editor Exploration Strategy list, select Pointer-2.
  3. In the Execution Options area, click Advanced Options.
  4. Click the General Termination tab, and enter or select the following:

    The latest design point is (feasible or infeasible) Optimization terminates when the design point becomes feasible or infeasible.
    The number of subflow runs reaches The number of subflows that you want to complete before optimization terminates.
    The elapsed execution time for this component reaches The amount of time that you want to elapse before optimization terminates. Time can be entered in seconds, minutes, or hours.
    The date and time reaches

    The date and time when you want optimization to terminate. Enter the date and time in the following format:

    month/day/two-digit year time AM or PM

    For example,

    1/25/10 02:20 PM

  5. Click the Parameter Termination tab.
  6. Select Terminate optimization when the following parameter criteria are satisfied, and select the criteria that must be met to terminate optimization:

    Criteria must be satisfied over the following number of consecutive subflow runs The number of subflow runs that must satisfy the selected termination criteria before optimization terminates.
    Criteria will be tested after the following number of initial subflow runs The number of subflow runs that you want to complete before the criteria are tested.
    Terminate optimization only when ALL selected criteria are satisfied This option forces all the selected parameter criteria to be met before optimization terminates. If this option is not selected, the optimization terminates when any one of the parameter criteria is met.
    Parameters Select the parameters that you want to use as termination criteria. You can also enter the upper and/or lower threshold that, when crossed, terminate this optimization.
  7. Click OK to save your changes and to close the Advanced Execution Options dialog box.
  8. Click OK to save your changes and to close the Exploration Component Editor.
