About the iSIGHT Component

You can use your existing iSIGHT description files by using the iSIGHT component to launch iSIGHT and run your description files as is, instead of configuring components in an Isight model that mimic your description files. You can also select the parameters from the description files to use as input and output parameters.

The iSIGHT component supports iSIGHT Version 9.0.5 and later. For additional information on iSIGHT, refer to the Isight User’s Guide, which is included on the iSIGHT 10.0 CD. It is recommended that you have iSIGHT 10.0 installed to use this component.

On Windows, when iSIGHT runs a user program it automatically gives the launched process its own Windows job when running in a SIMULIA Execution Engine environment. Therefore, termination of any program that creates its own subprocesses will not leave stray processes. As a result, no iSIGHT application that runs a user program can run properly via an iSIGHT component that is dispatched to a Run-As station by the SIMULIA Execution Engine, especially when that station is running Windows 7 or Windows Vista (see the SIMULIA Execution Engine Installation Guide that accompanied your installation).

The following figure shows an example of the iSIGHT Component Editor:

To start the iSIGHT Component Editor, double-click the iSIGHT component icon . When you have finished configuring the iSIGHT Component Editor, click OK to close the editor. For more information about inserting components and accessing component editors, see Working with Components in the Isight User’s Guide.

Important: If you receive a message stating that iSIGHT must be installed to use the iSIGHT component, iSIGHT is not currently installed in the system path. You must install iSIGHT in the system path for Isight to use this component.
